Carbon Accounting
Business today is not just about financial performance. Non-financial risks and opportunities, particularly related to environmental impact, are front of mind for business leaders who want to stay ahead of the curve.
Carbon accounting empowers businesses to measure, manage, and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, helping to minimise their carbon footprint and contribute to sustainability efforts. As accountants, we are best placed to help you make sense of this complex task.
We can help you with:
- Measure: Quantify your greenhouse gas emissions using internationally recognised standards.
- Report: Provide detailed emissions reports, offering insights into your environmental impact.
- Reduce: Identify opportunities and develop an action plan to reduce emissions.
- Comply: Stay compliant with evolving environmental regulations and standards

Carbon accounting measures the amount of carbon dioxide equivalents an organisation emits into the atmosphere (it’s Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions). Carbon accounting quantifies emissions from all business activities, including direct operations and supply chains, such as fuel and electricity use, buying goods and services, waste, travelling and investing
Under the Sustainability Reporting Regime, large Australian businesses and financial institutions are required to prepare a Sustainability Report. Sustainability Reports require a range of climate-related disclosures including Carbon Emissions.
Sustainability Reporting requirements will commence for the financial year commencing on or after 1 January 2025. To find out more about the requirements visit the ASIC website or contact us today to better understand how this applies to your business.
The data gathered through carbon accounting is crucial for creating effective strategies to reduce emissions, achieve sustainability goals, and remain competitive in a rapidly changing economy.
